These are demos that were being worked on for the next album that died with David's departure from the band. Depending on which band member you ask it is either a shame or for the best that these songs won't live on.
1. Rippin' It *(rippin' it) was a song initially brought in by David and is very keyboard dependent, thus resulting in its demise. This version is the closest thing we have to the final arrangement that we intended to record. It was played out live only once, at David's last show. I had to do a lot of editing and piecing together of various separate demos to make this exist. Although David didn't say it was an instrumental when he brought it in I never planned to write lyrics to it.
2. Crankin' It was the original ending of Rippin' It. It was either going to be thrown out entirely or made into a separate song and fleshed out. Ultimately it never made it further than this demo. There were lyrics written to it that never made it off the notebook page and that's where they'll stay.
3. Rippin' It/Crankin' It is closer to the original arrangement David brought in. There are subtle differences throughout the whole song but the more noticeable changes and new parts begin roughly halfway through, specifically the part that bridges Rippin into Crankin.
We want to say thank you to David for his time and contributions throughout 3 & 1/2 years with us.
